Hi All:
It's that time once again when yearend features are required.
This year, I would like ask each of you to produce a 500-800 word item on 24 Hours in....
In places where only one correspondent is working, it should be on your capital -- e.g. Vivian with 24 hours in Kuala Lumpur.
In places with more than one -- one person takes the capital, another person takes another favorite city that is also popualr with business/leisure travelers.
The stories should be aimed at the business/leisure traveler who has a day free in your city and you should be writing to treat him/her to YOUR city as YOU know it -- not the city of guidebooks.
I have been given Tokyo and I expect to suggest some places to visit/places to eat that most people certainly can find, but also places they might not think of first -- e.g. walking around Ikegami Honmonji and eating in Yokohama rather than walking in Akasuka and eating in Roppongi.
I hope each of you can offer the same sort of things for your city -- the idea is someone is visiting and you are going show them the city you know, not the one Lonely Planet knows.
Places can be fun, quirky, cheap. expensive -- up to you.
I will try to make a template for the project and then we can get started.
We are increasing our "digitial team" in Tokyo and even if every story doesn't run as a newspaper article, they will be in a section on the webpage so anyone visiting Sri Lanka will know how to get a real taste of Manik's Colombo and anyone in Burma how to get a real taste of Myat Thura's Rangoon.
