Hishiyama-san to leave the Asia Desk
Friends,
Today Miyawaki-san, the bucho, informed me that Hishiyama-san is being reassigned from the Asia Desk to be a Kanmon Desk editor from the beginning of next month. I'm sure I speak for everyone in saying that I'm sorry to see him go, but also congratulate him on his new gig.
Although this means the Asia Desk will only have three full-time editors, a former Kanmon editor now working part-time will from October work on the desk every Monday and Tuesday, so in terms of manpower we should be OK.

More blog arrivees
I was off for much of last week, so was glad to see today that three more have found their way to the shores of this humble blog.
Aoki-san is Kaigai-bu's reporter-at-large who's been stationed in Beijing for the past few years. Besides covering China's slowly improving relations with Japan, she heads up our coverage of that long-running soap opera known as the North Korean denuclearization process.
Myat is our point man in Myanmar, keeping us up to date on the goings on in the military-ruled country. He was busy recently covering the devastation and aftermath of Typhoon Nargis which tore through the country's delta region.
And rounding out the trio is Darryl, who's currently in Beijing on Olympics-related business.

More arrivals to the blog
This week has seen three more of our correspondents arrive at the ADB. Quick intros are in order.
First up is Dario, Our Man in Manila. Cool, calm, and collected, he's been providing us with accurate and timely reports for many moons on everything from the macanations in the Malacanang Palace to the unrest down in Mindanao Island.
Varunee is the other half of our amazing Bangkok team. She's been busy recently covering the border standoff with Cambodia and the ongoing opposition-led protests against the government.
Christine anchors our coverage of Indonesia, giving us the big picture and the nitty gritty of the world's largest Islamic nation. She has a nose for interesting stories on nature and wildlife.

Weekend schedule remnder
